The Bakehouse Apsley
The design and layout was built to replicate what existed but the added functionality of WooCommerce over the existing provider improved not only the user experience but also the site management experience in the following areas:
- Shopping cart reserve function to allocate inventory stock as reserved and prevent other customers removing goods from the basket
- Countdown timer on the shopping cart and forced removal of products after a specified time
- Multiple delivery zones, including free pick-up points
- Detailed order reports to assist with allocating and delivering stock
- Packing slips to be delivered with each order
- Bulk actions on orders allowing easy administration
- Analytics to identify best/worst selling products, highest spending customers, number of site visitors etc

Potential Difference
I built this small business site as a replacement for what existed. The incumbent needed a style change to bring it up to date and a complete overhaul of the content following a change in business scope for my client.
The brief was to deliver a smart, sophisticated and clean style to ensure the content was easy to read without being distracted by a busy page.
It didn’t require much functionality other than to display the competencies of my client and provide a means to contact them.
Bespoke Textiles
I was contracted to add shopping functionality to this existing website. The owner of the business had a range of products she wished to make available for sale that didn’t have a suitable platform to reach her intended customers due to the challenges that the Covid pandemic brought in 2020. She now has two of her exclusive collections listed in her shop and continues to add more as she broadens her eCommerce presence.

I built this site for Caroline who had decided to become a freelancer and set up on her own. She needed to showcase her skills to attract business and provide a means to sell some of her artwork.

Evans GI Healthcare
Dr Evans needed a website to advertise his business to his prospective patients. Sometimes clients have a fixed idea what they would like their site to look like but in this case, Dr Evans gave me free reign and he was thrilled with the results.

Chiltern Ice Cream Company
This local ice cream company had an existing website which the owner wanted to transform into an online shop for their wholesale clients. Each page was redesigned and a WooCommerce installation was added to provide the shopping functionality with supporting plugins to provide user-specific pricing, user-specific content, simplified checkout, min/max quantity order restrictions and product tables. WooCommerce has been integrated with my client’s incumbent manufacturing software to provide seamless communication with the website.

Sean Hyden Dog Trainer
Sean had an existing site that had been designed by an agency and had been built using a custom-coded theme. This left him tied to their support package to ensure the theme was maintained in line with future WordPress updates. I rebuilt and redesigned the site using a free, lightweight theme and a WordPress page builder to simplify and allow him to make changes by himself. I also added a booking system which integrated with Calendly, a blog and additional pages as his product offering grew.

Body & Mind Holistics
This client had an existing site using a pre-defined style as set by the theme. My brief was to simplify the layout and allow the content to come across in a cleaner and more easily-readable format. This site also incorporated an embedded Acuity booking system to allow for seamless scheduling of client appointments.

Locally-Minded
I set this site up to act as an advertising platform for small businesses in the Tandridge and Reigate & Banstead districts of Surrey. My aim was to not only advertise my own web design services, but also include all the local small businesses and freelancers who may not have an advertising budget and needed some exposure. It’s built using the Geodirectory plugin which allows a scalable directory site and is a brilliant tool for showcasing businesses.

Smart Choice Home Decorating
I was approached by Joe to build a site from scratch so he could have a platform to advertise his services. He didn’t have any social media platforms so a website was key to reaching a wider audience. By using his logo colours, I created a clean, easy-to-use site which provides the means to showcase his work and for customers to reach him.
